Sperlonga
Sperlonga is a beautiful coastal town in the province of Latina, halfway between Rome and Naples. You’ll recognize it by its whitewashed houses clustered together on a steep headland, and lovely squares and winding alleyways that will bring you to terraces above the sea. The old town is very charming but the real treasure lies south in form of gorgeous beaches with beautiful clean sand and water. If you walk along the beach from the Sperlonga headland you’ll reach a nature reserve. Sperlonga’s most famous vacationer was Tiberius, the second emperor of Rome, who built a villa there. The villa included a grotto, today an Archaeological museum, where some famous sculptures have been found.
